adidas Breaking Barriers Project Launch!
Welcome back to the Precision Sports Technology blog!
It’s been a busy few months at the startup - building technology, making partnerships, growing the team and securing sales. We have lots of exciting news to share over the coming weeks, including this!
Precision Sports Technology has been invited to participate in the adidas Breaking Barriers Project, which aims to make sport more equal for women and girls across Europe and around the world. More precisely, we were selected to be part of the Breaking Barriers Innovation Lab, a startup incubator program focused on empowering entrepreneurs and innovators working on solutions that address the barriers that women and girls face in accessing sports. Delivered in partnership with Plug and Play, adidas Breaking Barriers hosts the Innovation Lab to help generate both positive business and impact outcomes, and create an engaged community of like-minded individuals who are reimagining the world of sport.
At Precision Sports Technology, we were incredibly excited to be selected for the program. Six companies were selected across Europe, including two others from Ireland—HerSport and Orreco Fitr Woman. HerSport is breaking down barriers in visibility to women’s sports through engaging and inspiring content, while Orreco has developed Fitr Woman, a novel software solution for training, nutrition, and recovery around the menstrual cycle, backed by sports science.
The Project recently kicked off in Herzogenaurach in Southeast Germany at the adidas Headquarters, which both Emma (Founder, CEO, CTO) and Seán (CCO, Lead Sport Scientist) sped off to. Over the course of two days they had the opportunity to present the ambition for Precision Sports Technology to the teams organizing and participating in the Project, along with industry leads, mentors, and advisors from adidas and Plug and Play. At
The presentations were followed by a tour of the vast adidas campus, learning about the history of the brand and discovering the highlights of this incredible location. Of course—at Precision Sports Tech, we were blown away by the gym facilities, where we were treated to a guided yoga session. Truly inspiring!
Our team had to outline goals on what we aim to achieve during the six months we are participating in the program, and based on this, we were paired with world-class mentors with adidas and Plug and Play to accelerate us towards our vision.
We are hugely honored to have been chosen to participate in the Project and are incredibly excited to make the most of it as we work towards demo day in November!
